Cook's Communications Corporation is seeking a full-time installation technician to assist with public safety vehicle upfitting.

This is a full-time (40-hour per week) position with some overtime when needed. Cook’s offers complete public safety upfitting services. We service patrol cars, undercover vehicles, transport vehicles, fire engines and battalion vehicles, EMS, mobile command vehicles, specialty vehicles, and dispatch consoles. The ideal candidate will have a basic comprehension of 12-volt electronics, the ability to read and interpret wiring schematics, and general automotive knowledge.

Must be able to adapt quickly and work well with current team members and supervisors to ensure department compatibility and meet all project deadlines. Qualified applicants must be organized, punctual, reliable, and must possess a current CA driver’s license and a clean DMV record.

Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to:

1. Disassembly and reassembly of vehicle interiors and exteriors.

2. Installation of two-way radios, lighting, computers, and other electronic devices.

3. Installation of vehicle hardware (i.e., push bumpers, partitions, and consoles).

4. Clean up and maintenance of the shop facilities. 


1. Must be able to lift at least 75 lbs.

2. Must be able to climb a ladder.
